Yesterday was the annual A-1 Comics art contest, for which I did an art piece of The Goddamn Batman (anyone who's read the All Star Batman & Robin Boy Wonder series will get the joke, I'm sure). I ranked best in class for the second year in a row, so I got treated to about a month and a half worth of free comics.

I missed the judging yesterday, so I didn't get to see my competition, but I'm there just about every year, and I know my fellow Sacramento artists are a forced to be reckoned with. So, it was an honor to rank 1st. Wish me luck next October, I'm hoping to go three for three.

Anyway, I've been doing a fair amount of artwork relating to Out of the Blue and Into the Black. My lovely and talented girlfriend Riki is returning as editor to both series. She's currently taking the red pen to my final draft of the Into the Black script, but Out of the Blue is 100% complete and in the art stages. So it's looking like, oddly enough, Out of the Blue will be out first.

So, while this has been an emotionally taxing time for me, at least it's clear that life continues, and I have to keep pace with it. To everyone who's been there to support me after the loss of my grandfather, for their love, concern and kind words, I'm both blessed and thankful.
